Mauro Icardi has been representing Ligue 1 Champions, PSG, on loan from Inter Milan. It seems that the Argentina international will be staying in the French capital as PSG have tabled an offer for Icardi’s permanent move. Various Italian outlets have reported that PSG has made an offer worth €50m for the Argentine with €10m add-ons. However, Icardi’s price was set at €70m by Inter Milan last summer. It will be interesting to see if both clubs manage to maneuver a deal as talks continue. The Inter management is hopeful that the French Champions will opt to sign the 27-year-old permanently as he has performed well in his time at Le Parc des Princes. However, it is possible that PSG may not intend to pay the whole amount and may negotiate further as most clubs are facing an economic crisis due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Naturally, Inter understands this situation and it is being reported that Inter is ready to lower the price. What is interesting is that Antonio Conte, the Inter manager, has no intention of pushing the striker into the first team immediately. As we all know, Conte has a strong character and doesn’t entertain nonsense from any of his players. This was evident in his spat with Diego Costa at Chelsea, and it will be fascinating to see how he approaches Icardi’s case. Antonio Conte has managed to lead his side to the third position in the Serie A this season. Moreover, he made some crucial signings like Diego Godin from Atletico de Madrid, Romelu Lukaku and Ashley Young from Manchester United, Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur. He also signed Alexis Sanchez on loan from Manchester United. Mauro Icardi joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2013 from Sampdoria. He went on to score 124 goals in 219 appearances in all competitions. Unfortunately, the Argentine was stripped of the Inter captaincy last season and was frozen out of the squad by the new manager, Antonio Conte. The situation kept worsening and Icardi signed a one-year contract extension with the Nerazzurri before moving to PSG on deadline day. Reflecting on his switch to the French side, Argentine seemed content with his decision. Icardi told PSG TV, "It's a major step in my career, and a great opportunity to join a top club like Paris Saint-Germain. I hope to live great things here." He also shared his excitement on playing with a stunning squad, “Being able to play alongside these very talented players is amazing. The decision was easy to make, I've come to Paris because I wanted to play with them." On the other hand, some reports have suggested that Mauro Icardi could be on his way to the Emirates to play under Mikel Arteta. These rumors are quite interesting as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future remains uncertain at the Emirates. This could force Arsenal to look for a replacement for their star striker, and Icardi could be the ideal solution. The current scenario does indicate a favorable situation for both parties and Arsenal could sign Icardi in a swap deal with Aubameyang joining the San Siro outfit. Recently Icardi's wife, Wanda Nara, has fueled further speculation as she shared an image where her son was wearing an Arsenal shirt. It’s quite clear that Icardi is not popular in Milan and it is unlikely that he will return to the San Siro. The Argentine is in the prime years of his career and a permanent move to the French capital might just be on the table.
